I hold a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje, and I am currently finishing my postgraduate studies at the same University. I have been working as a Civil Engineer at Breon for a year now. I think of myself as an optimist because I always try to stay positive, am a hard worker and am eager to learn new skills and techniques. I love taking long walks, especially in the spring. It is relaxing and brings out positive vibes. I enjoy a good movie and trying out a new recipe in the kitchen.
Our profession as Civil engineers offers a great diversity of activities and jobs. Previously I was working on-site and also performing structural design and analysis. I was looking for a new job, and I was immediately drawn by the opportunity that this company offers. A very small number of companies use BIM in our country. I think that was the main thing that captured my interest. Also, Breon has a one month paid educational program which offers you to learn and develop in this field of work.
Depot Hard is such an amazing project. I have worked on a couple of subjects on this project, and every task has its own challenges. We learn through every project we are involved in. I believe that working on this project taught me many things, and It has been a perfect addition to the knowledge I obtained in my graduate and postgraduate studies.
A day at Breon starts with a well prepared daily plan that helps set your priorities for the day ahead to be more productive and complete your tasks and projects on time. That way, you are leaving the office with a clear mind and prepared for a smooth start of another day. The day goes by with focusing on our daily tasks and responsibilities by supporting each other, finding a better solutions to the problems we are facing, and learning more from one another. During breaks, we make sure to enjoy our time together and talk about our day in the fresh air on the terrasse with a great cup of coffee and fresh fruits.
Social Friday is an initiative to give back to the community or make a difference to the people around you. I have been part of two Social Friday events, and both have been truly inspiring. As my favourite, I would pick the second event where we made a visit to the Zoo with the kids of the Daycare Centre for street children in Suto Orizari. It was a great way to bring positive change in their lives and a smile on their faces.
BIM is still a very new and growing field, and you will learn a lot and sharpen your skills along the way. Still, to start a career in BIM, you need to have an understanding of architectural and engineering principles. In addition to that, good technical skills and knowledge of project standards. Also, I would add a dedication, motivation, great willingness to learn, good communication skills, team player and problem-solving skills.
Breon is a company that offers you a great opportunity to enhance your knowledge, prove your abilities and develop both personally and professionally. A workplace that is open to communication, approachable and willing to listen as well as give feedback. If you are a Civil engineer interested in working using the newest BIM technology, don’t hesitate and join us.
