Social Friday is a global initiative that encourages companies to dedicate the last Friday of each month to a social cause. It is an opportunity to give back to the community and engage with local organizations and individuals.
Among companies from across the globe, Social Friday is also being practised by our engineering team from Skopje, North Macedonia.
Social Friday events typically involve volunteering, fundraising, and community-building activities. The initiative aims to promote social responsibility, bring people together, and create positive change in local communities.
The events are organized by companies, non-profits, and other organizations, and they can range from small team-building activities to large-scale community projects.
Here is an overview of our latest 4 past events from 2022:
This Social Friday event, held on March 25th, 2022, saw the long-time partners Breon and the Shuto Orizari Day Care Centre teaming up once again to create a fun and educational experience for the children. The event was centred around wildlife in the Zoo, with activities designed to teach the children about different species and their habitats.
Participants learned about various animals and their natural habitats, which helped promote awareness and understanding of conservation efforts. Additionally, the event was an opportunity for the partners to discuss further areas of support for the centre, demonstrating the ongoing commitment to improving the lives of the children in their care. Overall, it was a successful day full of learning, fun, and social impact.
The Social Friday event held on June 24th, 2022, was a great success, and a testament to the long-lasting relationships that can be built through Social Friday. At this event, the employees from Breon joined forces with the Zero Waste Company and the Biology Students Association to spend time with the children from the Daycare Center Suto Orizari.
The focus of the event was on the importance of protecting the environment, with the children learning about recycling and the importance of preserving nature. The event was not only educational but also fun, with arts and crafts activities and soccer games adding to the experience.
This event served as a reminder of the impact that can be made when individuals and organizations come together to work towards a common goal.
This Social Friday event was a perfect example of how Breon invests one Friday afternoon each quarter to support social organizations. This time, the event was hosted as an early autumn social gathering with the kids from the Home “11 Oktomvri,” and the focus of the event was on art.
Breon joined forces with the “Atelje za crtanje i slikanje” to help the children discover their artistic potential. Together, they created amazing paintings that were exhibited in Public Room Skopje on the 25th of November, and all of the funds raised from the sales went directly to the Children’s Home “11 Oktomvri.”
The event was held at the House Of Culture “Koco Racin” in Skopje and was a huge success, leaving a lasting impact on the children and everyone involved in the event. By dedicating their time to social causes like this, Breon and their partners have shown that small actions can have a big impact.
The Social Friday event on November 25, 2022 was a two-part event, and the first part involved a partnership between Breon, Treebanks, and other volunteer groups from Skopje. The event was aimed at challenging the status quo and promoting environmental sustainability. The volunteers worked together to plant 2,000 new trees in an effort to create a greener and healthier environment.
The event went great, and it challenged the consumerism propaganda of Black Friday by promoting a more environmentally-friendly way of spending the day. By working together to plant trees, the volunteers helped to make a positive impact on the environment and create a more sustainable future for all.
The art exhibition and auction that took place during the November 25th Social Friday event were another success story. The paintings that the kids from the orphanage home “11 Oktomvri” created during the previous Social Friday event, with the help of the Breon team and the “Atelje za crtanje i slikanje,” were displayed and put up for auction. The event took place in Public Room Skopje and attracted a lot of people interested in supporting a good cause.
It was a heartwarming moment to see the joy on the children’s faces when they heard the news about the auction’s success. All the raised funds were donated to the orphanage home, which we go that will go a long way in supporting the children’s needs.
The art exhibition and auction were a great example of how Social Friday initiatives can positively impact people and encourage them to come together to support their community. It was a beautiful event that demonstrated how people’s dedication and hard work could make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
